Lucille Tillery, born on July 1, 1954, in Quincy, Florida, to Edward and Louise Spann, transitioned from this world to the next with grace and a heart full of love on December 25, 2023. Lucille’s journey began in Quincy, Florida where she spent her formative years and later relocating to Sarasota during her teenage years. It was in Sarasota that she proudly graduated from Sarasota High School, marking the beginning of a life filled with purpose and community service.

A devoted business owner, Lucille became a pillar of her community, leaving an indelible mark with her loving spirit and radiant smile. Known for her unwavering willingness to extend a helping hand, Lucille’s generosity and kindness touched the lives of many. Her spirit, one of enduring love and compassion, will undoubtedly remain everlasting in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Lucille is now reunited with her beloved husband, Dana Tillery, and loving grandson, Jabez Spann, who preceded her in death.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished by her surviving family members: brothers and sisters Dorothy Whitfield, Lois Spann, Bobby Spann, Ulysses Spann, and Will Spann.

Lucille’s memory lives on through her children: Larry Levine, Latohya Jakes, Robert Spann, Dana Tillery, and Tawana Spann-Butler [Ivy “Joe” Butler}.

Additionally, she leaves behind a host of cherished grandchildren: Ron Johnson Jr., Romeo Johnson, Demonte Tillery, Isaiah Levine, Jasmine Levine, Sherrod Span, Jeremiah Spann, Amayah Sellers, Amani Tillery, Ahmad Tillery, Ahmari Tillery, Ahkeem Tillery, and four great-grandchildren. and a host nieces and nephews and cousins. Special recognition to her dear lifelong friends Ms. Shirley Platt and Ms. Ardis Smith.

As we mourn the loss of Lucille, let us also celebrate the enduring impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and community spirit will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
