Verna Hall was born Verna Lee Rosanna Purdie on August 3rd, 1932, to parents, Lee Purdie and Sarah Weir. She was born in the home where she resided up until the last months of her life. At an early age, she learned to listen more often than she talked ….. a skill that assisted her in educating herself to become a renaissance woman.
She lived an extraordinary life that took her to California, points in between, and back to Florida. She became a Radiology Film Technician at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and excelled in that role until her retirement. Once retired, Verna enhanced her culinary, knitting, and gardening skills. Her spicy meals and backyard garden became a staple of her community.
Verna leaves behind her son, Ervin L. Jones (Jeanette E.); grandchildren: Elizabeth Moreland and Thomas Woodard (Cheryl E.); great-grandchildren: Omar J. Woodard and Kenya A. Woodard; beloved pet and companion, Redman, along with a great number of neighbors and close friends.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at C. L. Chandler Memorial Chapel, 1425 Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Way, Sarasota, FL. Chandler’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My deepest condolences and prayers to the family. Ms Vern and my mom Edna Swain were very close, they talked almost everyday. She will be missed.
