Bishop Stanford Perkins, 76, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Sanford, Florida, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. Visitation will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1494 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Sarasota, Florida. The Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Sarasota Community Church, 4041 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota. Interment will be private.
Bishop Stanford Perkins was born on May 14, 1947, in Sanford, Florida to Sylvia Davis and Charles Perkins.
Bishop Perkins was a graduate of Manatee High School, Class of 1968. He continued his education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) from 1968 to 1970. Bishop Perkins was self-employed for 30 years as a brick mason and handyman. He was a member of the Ministerial Alliance and an advocate for the community. He was ordained as a Bishop in 2003. He was a director of Trinity Dreamers and Visionary School, which he established in 2012. Bishop Perkins loved football and chess.
Bishop Stanford Perkins transitioned from his earthly life to eternal rest on August 7, 2023, Sarasota, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Perkins, mother, Sylvia Davis, stepfather, Manuel Davis, son, Sanford Perkins, stepbrother, Jakie Davis and stepsister, Leatha Davis.
Bishop Perkins’ memories will forever be treasured by His wife of 30 years: Theresa Perkins; Sons: Gerald Perkins, Iˊron Perkins (Tammy), Brandon Perkins (Iyla), Matthew Castleberry, Edward Smith (Chacanta), Charles Wade (Brenda) and Alex Norris; Daughters: Sylvia Harris (Jonnie), Keisha Yolanda Perkins, Latrecia Castleberry, Yolanda Briteus (Theo), Patricia Houston (Tyron), Cynthia Robinson and Laura Perkins; Brothers: Sanford Perkins (Michele) and Tyrone Hatcher (Sonya); Sisters: Dawn Perkins, Charissa Amoah (James) and Felicia Davis; And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
