Dalan Kiree Thompson, 23, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was born on July 19, 1999, in Carbondale, Illinois to LaShanda Thompson and Charles Avery. He departed this life on Friday, September 23, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the C.L. Memorial Chapel, 1425 Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr. Way, Sarasota, FL. Visitation will be held (1) hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Oaklands-Woodlawn Cemetery.

Dalan accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Mound City, Illinois, under the leadership of Reverend James A. Dowell. He started out as a Junior Usher and later joined the choir. Dalan was a 2017 graduate of Cape Central High School, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He participated in various school activities with wrestling being his favorite. He received a partial scholarship to Hannibal-LaGrange Christian University in Hannibal, Missouri. He wrestled and began pursing a nursing degree. Dalan attended Iowa State University to study music.

Dalan loved going to Freedom Church of Tampa, in Tampa, Florida, where Dominic Watkins is the Pastor. He also enjoyed drawing, singing and talking with friends and family. He was a kin and loving person. We loved him very much and will miss him dearly.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother and stepfather: LaShanda Wheeler and Marcus Wheeler of Cape Girardeau, MO; three sisters: Destiny Levy of Cape Girardeau, MO, Aaliyah Avery of Bloomington, IL and Ariel Rice of Panama City, FL; stepbrother: Moziah Wheeler of Cape Girardeau, MO; grandparents: Debra Thomas and Theodore Thomas of Mounds, IL; great grandmother: Earnestine Johnson of Mounds City, IL; uncle: Willie Thompson of Atlanta, GA; great uncle: Earnest Thompson (Joyce) of Mounds City, IL; friends: Takymbra Williams and Taneal Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
