Visitation will take place at 6 PM on December 15, 2023, at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Sarasota Florida and the funeral services will take place at 12 noon on December 16, 2023, at Truvine Missionary Baptist Church in Sarasota, Florida.
Mr. Harold Livingston, Jr 93, transitioned from this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at home, in Sarasota, Florida.
Mr. Livingston had a historical career in law enforcement which began in 1970 with the Sarasota County Sherrif’s Office. He served in several capacities within the Sheriff’s Department becoming the first Black detective in Sarasota County. He resigned from the Sheriff’s Office in 1979 to become a candidate for Sheriff. After his candidacy, he began a career with the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) which merged with the Florida Highway Patrol. He served with the DOT for 19 years until his retirement in April, 1998, serving 29 years in law enforcement.
He is survived by his dedicated and wonderful wife, Julia Livingston. Also, 7 children, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
