Mr. Thomas was born February 7, 1931, in Brooks County Georgia to Mr. David Thomas Sr. & Mrs. Hattie Swain-Thomas, of whom both have preceded him in Death, also his Brother Mr. Walter Henry Thomas preceded him in Death. Mr. John David Thomas Religious Faith was Christian. Mr. Thomas was retired from being a 20-year Navy Veteran, and he also was a Law Enforcement officer.
Mr. John David Thomas was a prolific poet. His 2008 publication, Rosed Poems of Eden, served as a lyrical tribute to the woman he longed for-someone he once glimpsed but never truly met. In 1949, while visiting Sarasota from Georgia, he encountered a young woman who captivated him. Her name was Estella Morris soft spoken, graceful, with dark hair and deep, expressive eyes. Though they neither spoke nor saw each other for the next fifty years, she remained etched in his memory. In a remarkable twist of fate, they reunited and married in November of 2002.
Mr. John David Thomas Jr. Leaves to Cheris his memory: his Wife Mrs. Estella M. Thomas of 27 years. Mr. Thomas had a Stepson: Mr. Earl S. Morris. Daughters: Gale Thomas; Cheryel Hoyos. Stepdaughter’s: Cynthia Hudson, Pauline Rogers, Dr. Harriet D. Moore. Sisters: Rosalie Thomas Hall, Hattie Ruth Johnson. Grandchildren: Benito (Benny) Gonzalo Hoyos, David Randal Hoyos. And a Host of Nieces & Nephews.
