Mr. James A. Leverett

James Arthur Leverett was born on May 13, 1954, in Panama City, Florida to Zollie Leverett and Mary Leverett.

He was a graduate of Bay High School in Panama City, Florida and was of the Christian Faith.  He gave his life to Christ, embracing his love and grace with a renewed spirit and heartfelt devotion.  James was employed with the City of Sarasota for 22 years and in trucking for 23 years, retiring in 2016.  James had a passion for riding motorcycles, playing pool, and spades.

James Authur Leverett transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home on October 4, 2025, in Tampa, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his father, Zollie Leverett, mother, Mary Leverett, sons Zaniel Leverett, Sr., and Antoine Leverett, Sr., and brothers, Jimmy McDonald, Zollie Leverett, Jr., Ocie Leverett, Henry Leverett and Willie B. Leverett, sister, Francis Oliver, nephew, Tydearian Gibson, grandsons, Timothy, Jr. and Fedrick, Jr.

He leaves cherished memories to His spouse of 45 years, Julia Livingston Leverett; daughters, Alaysha Clark (Carl), Renesha Butler (Benny), Yolanda Bailey (Larry), Taneshia McClendon (Michael), Jamekeyra Chapman (Charlie) and Jacqueline Leverett; sons, Devon Leverett, Timothy Leverett, Tedrick Leverett, Kenji Leverett, Robbie Peterson and Antonio Manning (Catherine),; sisters, Minnie Leverett, Rose Leverett, Donna Payton and Selma Moore; brothers, Jessie Leverett and King Leverett (Barbara); sister-in-law, Ida Ree Leverett, Henrietta Washington, Betty Spencer and Shirley Gaines; brother-in-law, Harry Scott; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
