Ms. Shirley Alford, 76, of Sarasota, FL was called to her eternal home on October 14, 2026 to be with the Lord.  Visitation will take place Friday, October 23, 2026; 5:00 – 7:00PM at Chandler’s Funeral Home.  Homegoing celebration will be Saturday, October 24, 2026, 11:00AM at Koinonia Missionary Baptist Church of Sarasota 409 N. Lime Avenue, Sarasota, FL.  Interment: Galilee Cemetery

Shirley Marie Alford was born on December 2, 1950, in Sarasota, Florida to John and Thelma Alford . Daughters: Terrell Alford of Aiken, Daphne Alford, Veronica Alford of Augusta, Jocelyn Parker, Sherell Dawes, Sherena Dawes and Brandi Dawes. Brothers: John Wesley Alford, Sr;. Sisters: Mildred Gunsby, Lauretha Alford and Theresa Spearman. Grandchildren: Lakesha Walker (Ny), Martika Spencer, Lawrence Spencer, Taelor Williams, Lauren Alexander, Danielle Alford-Cox, Johnathon Alford, Janiya Dawes, Jeremy Dawes, Jayla Davis, Janae Houston, Ta -Nyah Porter and Antron Nelson. Great-grandchildren: Nate, Mayte, Elijah, Elysia, Adreanna, Keith, Keiannie, King, Kason, Nolan and Romy, and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was a graduate of Gibbs High School and received her certification as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA). She was employed in Nursing Administration at elderly nursing facilities.
